My name is Jessica Barbe. I am a French ecophysiologist at the University of Lyon. My research focuses on the mitochondrial bioenergetic in birds and mammals while integrating the effects of body mass and body temperature, two determining parameters for species.
I studied ecology (BSc) at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc (France) and integrated physiology in extreme conditions (MSc) at the University of Lyon. During my two years as a Master’s student, I worked with my current lab (LEHNA) on the muscle energetic metabolism in king penguin chicks and pheasants. I then became a PhD student , in the Ecophysiology, Behaviour and Conservation Team (LEHNA), under the supervision of Pr. Damien Roussel and Pr. Yann Voituron.
My work has contributed to a better understanding of the involvement of mitochondrial bioenergetics in the mechanisms underlying key ecological and evolutionary processes in endotherms, while at the same time highlighting the way in which we consider comparative analyses between birds and mammals.
